Student Visa
It’s not so easy anymore to study in the UK, due to the program being abused. Tighter rules were implemented and all students will have show that they are genuinely there to study, to better themselves and have evidence that they will be able to accommodate and support themselves, without the need to take up employment.
All Foreign Nationals must apply for a Visa as a student before they come to the UK, regardless of the length of their course.
If you are classed as a Non-Visa National and are coming for a course of six months, or less, you have the option of applying for permission to enter and stay in the UK when you arrive. However, we strongly recommend that you apply for an entry clearance before leaving your home country.
If you are studying for more than six months, you must apply for a Visa to the UK before leaving your home country.
To apply for a Student Visa you will need to provide:
A completed Visa applications form (VAF9- PBS Migrant) accompanied with PBS Appendix 8, General Student Self- Assessment Form
- An original unconditional enrollment letter from LSBF.
- Proof of qualifications. The Visa office will want to see original certificates to prove you have the appropriate qualifications.
- Proof that you have the funds on your personal account available to pay course fees living expenses while in the UK.
UK Visa Process for students outside United Kingdom:
If you are over 16 and want to study in the UK for more than six months, you can apply for the UK Student Visa. Applying for the General Student Visa is based on a point based system. You need to score 40 points.
- 30 points: Doing the course at an acceptable level.
- 10 points: Maintenance of funds for your course fees and living costs.
You need to make sure that you have sufficient maintenance funds to finance your studies. Having sufficient funds will earn you 10 points of the required 40.
These amounts must be held in your personal bank account for a minimum period of 28 days. The end of that 28 day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application, for which you must show bank statements, or other evidence.
Once you have made a final decision where you would like to study you will request that the educational institute, where you will study, provide you with a Visa letter. The letter should confirm your acceptance to study at that institute.
It should contain details about you and the course you plan to study there; including how much the course costs and what evidence the sponsor received of your qualifications. Your Visa letter must be issued no more than six months before you apply.
Having a Visa letter does not guarantee your Visa application will be successful. You must meet all the requirements of the category and any other requirements of the immigration rules.
Once you have been accepted onto a course by a licensed institute and have your Visa letter and funds arranged you are ready to apply for a Student Visa.
Students granted a General Student Visa will have permission to work (paid or unpaid, and including integral internships) for up to 20 hours per week during term-time, and full-time during University holidays. You will be allowed to come to the United Kingdom a short time before the start of your course.
